Power Limited Circuit Cable Form 3

I want to use this cable to supply two ac circuits to a remote location in the machine.

The national electrical code nec class 2 and class 3 covers remote control signaling and power limited circuits covered by chapter 7 in article 725. The nec defines such circuits as that portion of the wiring system between the load side of the overcurrent protection device ocpd or the power limited supply and all connected equipment. If the power source is power limited the circuit is power limited. That makes sense when talking about power limited circuits.

What i am asking about is when power limited is part of the cable description. This is a 2 pair 16 awg shielded cable from belden. The wiring has to be good enough for the type of circuit. Class 1 2 and 3 circuits are classified as remote control signaling and power limited circuits in the national electrical code nec.

You can wire class 2 circuits with class 2 cable or any of its substitutes permitted by table 725 61 a depending on the condition of use. Wiring is it power limited or non power limited. By itself wiring does not show if a circuit is power limited or non power limited. Use class 3 circuits when the power demand for circuits over 30v exceeds 0 5va but is not more than 100va chapter 9 table 11.

In class 2 and class 3 systems either the voltage or the current depending upon circuit design is limited to a level that will not cause a fire and under. Any circuit that is above 30v or 100 va is considered not to be power limited even if there is a protection device like a fuse or circuit breaker. They are considered to be a special condition other than a normal power circuit.
