This is part 1 of a 6 part video series explaining how i installed a metal roof on my house.
Putting a metal roof on a porch.
You can either remove the eave or just keep it.

Remove the old roof.
Blow out the dust fill the hole with epoxy and insert the rod to the required depth.
Use your neoprene washer head screws to secure the metal to the sheathing.
For a roof over a porch of dimensions other than 12 feet by 8 feet you ll need to adjust your measurements accordingly.
Measure the size of the beam that you are going to use.
Measure the sightline clearance height from the roof to the house not the other way around.
If you live in snow and ice country you need to take it one step further by laying down a row width of ice and water barrier along the eaves and valleys.
Check local building code to see if you can attach a patio roof directly to your deck.
Step 6 make a 10 degree bend on the shingle edge of the flashing approximately 1 2 inch from the edge.
Most flashing is 8 inches wide.
Measure the roof area.
You will want to cover the entire roof with the underlayment.
Take your first sheet of metal and place it on the roof so that it overhangs the edge at least 3 4 in 1 9 cm.
You will need to order enough metal material to cover the entire roof and this process.
Lay the starter row of metal shingles at the drip edge and affix to the roof with metal roofing nails.
Use the metal break tool to bend the flashing lengthwise in the middle according to the angle of the roof joint.
After the roof is covered with plywood it needs to be covered with tar paper or membrane.
4 inches should go up the house wall and 4 inches should go on top of the porch roof shingles.
Your metal porch roof will last over 50 years or more so having the best roof underlayment is a wise investment.
The other ends of the rafters should be sitting in metal hangers which are screwed into a 2x6 that takes the place of fascia.
Let the epoxy set leaving it overnight will assure that it is rock solid and then add the anchor bolt anchor washer and nut and tighten.
You ll want to order metal panels that are an appropriate color and look to complement your.
Building on an existing deck.
Take care the first piece is aligned precisely perpendicular square to the edge.
The roof will have the measurement of 144 by 96 by 96 inch.
